Tie-dying fun

I received a tie-dyeing kit from a friend recently and I tried it on some plain t-shirts. I tried some different techniques which I learnt from youtube videos.

These are Riya's t-shirts. One is 18mth and the other is 3T. Got them for $1 each. :D

This one is mine but I don't like how it turned out. Not sure if it's because it's a pink shirt instead of the recommended white. Oh well, I guess I'll use it for home use and when I need to color my hair.

More swaps!

In true Craftster-style, I joined more swaps after my first one. I'm currently in these swaps:

- Go Green and Recycle swap

- A week of Onesies swap

- Happy Homemaker swap

I'm having SO much of fun participating in these swaps. I would write about what I'm making for these swaps and post pictures, but as of now, I haven't decided if I want to share this blog with others, so I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise for my partners. I would probably write about it with pictures after they have received them. I might not share this blog with anyone after all...it's definitely not as good as some of the blogs people have. Mine is just a diary of what I'm up to.

Go Green and Recycle swap:

My partner is a very different personality...different as in she is not the average person I usually meet in life. She has pythons as pets, she works as a makeup artist in the porn industry. I was kinda shocked when I first read her profile. But once I got to know her, it was so fun to craft things for her.

A week of onesies swap:

My partner has 2 boys, and the younger one is almost the same as my baby. I had so much fun embellishing the onesies for her son. I had no idea what was in-style for boys these days, but I did some looking around and I did come up with some creative designs. I hope she likes them. I'm almost done with the onesies...I am now working on some small extras for the 2 kids.

The Happy Homemaker swap

My partner is a busy lady with 2 kids and is going back to school soon. I have a ton of ideas on what to make for her. I already started on something that I have been wanting for myself for sometime. I squealed with delight when I saw this item on her list of things she wants. It's a reusable swiffer cover. I crocheted it and it was so easy and quick! I'm definitely going to make some for myself.

First swap on Craftster

Although swapping was nothing new to me, I was a little hesitant to join a swap on Craftster as people on there are extremely talented. But I took the chance and joined the Girly Girl Swap and got an awesome partner. We both like girly stuff - pink, purses, jewellery, etc. And so, we both had lots of fun making stuff for each other.

I learnt many new ways of crafting. I learnt to do the brick stitch to make this colorful bracelet.

I also learnt to make magnets out of clear marbles. (My partner loves Hello Kitty)

New love - sewing!

I'd been itching to learn to sew for a few months. I found a good machine on craigslist for a good deal and started learning...

Here's my very first project, a top for my little girl:

It turned out so pretty, I'm so proud of it! And then I went on to make these other stuff:Taggie blanket:

My not-so-good items:
Top where the sleeve ribbons are totally off

Skirt that fits fine but looks boring

Dress that doesn't fit at all, it hangs on her with huge armholes. It doesn't show in the pic.

Past

I wanted to record all my recent past happenings before I start posting on the new stuff that is going on in my crafting world.

I taught myself to make some jewellery:

Learning to make jewellery led me to Crafter, which made me curious about all the other forms of crafting there is on this planet. And I tried some new things that I'd never done before.

That is how I got interested with learning to sew.
I got myself a sewing machine off of craigslist.

I'm back!

To crafting, that is.

Looking at the date of my last post shows how much of a hiatus I've been on! I'm back to blogging to record all the latest stuff I've been up to, including some new things I'm learning! I'm excited about my new-found creativity. Crafting is definitely a good therapy.

I've lots of updates to post. Hopefully I can get them done in the next post(s).

I need time!

I haven't done much crocheting lately. I just mailed the package to my secret pal for the Crochetville Spring Secret Swap. I have been putting together the package for almost a month, and finally sent it 2 days ago. I hope she likes all the stuff that I sent her. I made her a pair of the pixie slippers that I usually make for myself. This is my first time making that in size 8 for her, I hope it fits her.

Another package!

This spring swap is amazing! And my secret pal is amazing too!
She sent me a huge box of divine stuff! Look at the pillow she crocheted! It's awesome! And fits perfectly with my bedroom decor!

Shopping spree

A little shopping spree could do wonders to lift up my spirits. I was feeling down since morning. After lunch, I dropped my husband at work and drove to the Hobby Lobby close to my house. Entering that place brings a kind of comfort and happiness to me that I can't explain. I had lots of fun walking up and down every aisle and just throwing whatever I liked into my shopping cart. :) I found lots of stuff that I liked, and many were on clearance. I got some stuff for my secret pal too. I hope she likes them.
